FAQ's to RECOM products certified according to EN 60950-1 after 20th December 2020

How did RECOM usually certify its products to EN/IEC 60950-1?

Any and all RECOM products certified according to EN 60950-1 have been also certified to IEC 60950-1 at the same time. This is important, because IEC 60950-1 continues to be valid after 20th December 2020. Therefore, the use of such products as components in EN/IEC 62368-1 end-applications is still possible.

May RECOM still place products with EN 60950-1 on the market after 20th December 2020?

Yes. Any and all RECOM products which RECOM places to the market will meet one or more of the below requirements.

We have to differentiate as follows:
  1. RECOM may place products on the market which are certified according to EN 60950-1 and an additional other EN standard.
  2. RECOM may place products on the market which are certified according to EN 60950-1, which are updated to EN 62368-1.
  3. RECOM may place products on the market which have a respective self-declaration as set forth by EU Directive 2014/35.

What happens with CE-marked RECOM products certified according to EN 60950-1 available on stock at distributors after 20th December 2020?

First of all, such products must have been acquired prior to 20th December 2020. Distributor may continue to sell such products with EN 60950-1 even after 20th December 2020. Distributor shall verify that the respective RECOM products bear the CE marking and are accompanied by the required documents, instructions and safety information only.

What do I do with end-applications certified according to EN 60950-1 which contain RECOM products certified according to IEC 60950-1 after 20th December 2020?

EN/IEC 62368-1:2014, Clause 4.1.1 provides the answer as follows:
