This week, Peter and I will be discussing the newest of the new, the RAC04-K/277, the most robust and cost-effective 4W AC/DC converter we've developed. We're very excited to talk to you about this one. Peter let's get started with the certifications. Can you tell us what international safety standards come with the RAC04-K/277?

Peter: Yeah, so like most of our AC/DC converters, the RAC04-K/277 comes with a wide variety of safety standards. This part is certified to 62368 for audio and video equipment, 60335 for household applications, as well as 61558216 for transformer safety.

Jeff: Are those all UL standards?

Peter: Yeah, they are. So not only are we covered by UL, but we also are covered by IEC, EN, and we have a CB report in the works.

Jeff: Excellent. What happened to the 6950?

Peter: Yeah, that's a good point, Jeff. So actually, 62368 will be replacing 6950 after December of 2020.

Jeff: Ah, so we're way out of the game.

Peter: Yeah, you know, we like to keep up the latest and most relevant certifications. It's just one of our main focuses as a company. This is just going to allow for a simple integration of RECOM during the design phase and makes selling that much easier and definitely just going to put us above the competition.

Jeff: Excellent. All right, let's shift the cover now. What can you tell us on the standby power for the RAC04-K/277?

Peter: Yeah, so this part has a low standby power consumption of 100mW, and on the other side, it has a boost power capability up to 6W. So these specs make it really ideal for IoT and energy-conscious applications. It also features an internal Class B EMC filter, which does not require any external components.

Jeff: Very nice. So I'm hearing that 4K is the new 3K when it comes to isolation. How much isolation is coming with the new RAC04-K/277?

Peter: Yeah, you're exactly right there, Jeff. So this part is reinforced, isolated up to 4kVAC, and this is kind of becoming the standard for most of our AC/DC converters. It also has short circuit protection, an extended input voltage range up to 277VAC, and a maximum operating temperature of 90°C. So it's really suitable for those harsher industrial settings.

Jeff: Outstanding. All right, enough of the tech stuff. Let's talk about the footprint. How does the new RAC04-K/277 make it easy for engineers?

Peter: Yeah, so the footprint and pin layout are designed to match older RECOM converters, such as the RAC04-C/230 and RAC04-C/277. So there's going to be no modifications to the PCB required or respins. It's going to fit directly into the same old socket.
