Power solutions: Your one-stop shop

All but the simplest pieces of electronic equipment have some sort of Distributed Power Architecture (DPA). This typically means multiple stages of power conversion, including AC/DC power supplies followed by isolated DC/DC converters and non-isolated switching regulators.

When selecting power converter modules to build a DPA system, a designer is faced with decisions about electrical and thermal performance, safety and EMC compliance, and how to interpret data sheets in the various formats from different suppliers. If there is any doubt, there is a temptation to over-specify parts, potentially wasting money and space. Additionally, parts from different suppliers may interact in unpredictable ways and fail to function correctly together, despite meeting their individual specifications on paper. In this circumstance, each supplier may be reluctant to take responsibility for a ’system’ problem.

A solution is to use one supplier who can not only provide all components of a DPA solution but will also support customers to ensure that each part works correctly together as a system. AC/DC converters

From 1W to tens of kW rating in all popular form factors, including PCB or chassis-mount, wired, DIN rail, ruggedized encapsulated or low-cost open frame. Single or multiple outputs are available from 3.3V to 56V DC, all with overload and short-circuit protection. All AC/DCs incorporate built-in EMC filters for Class A or B compliance and hold certifications to medical, industrial or household safety standards, depending on model.

DC/DC converters

From 0.5W to 500W, unregulated or regulated with standard, wide or ultra-wide input ranges. Formats available include encapsulated/molded or open frame in SIP or DIP styles. Fully protected outputs range from 3.3V to 54VDC and isolation is up to 20kV DC. Certifications include medical, railway, and industrial, depending on the model.

Switching regulators

Regulated outputs from 0.3A up to 50A with efficiencies up to 99%. Outputs available are fixed or adjustable from 0.9V to 24VDC with full SCP protection. Market-leading power density with ultra-low profiles and integrated inductors. Certifications include medical, industrial, and automotive, depending on model.

Full- and semi-custom

Supported by RECOM subsidiary company PCS, who have expertise in full- and semi-custom high-power AC/DCs, DC/DCs, power factor correction units, battery chargers and inverters. PCS also has expertise in high-reliability applications such as military, railway, and industrial.

Technical support

Provided in your local language for all RECOM products, backed up by application engineers situated round the globe. State-of-the-art test facilities are also available for customer use, to ‘de-bug’ system issues and to perform EMC pre-compliance testing.
