The RAC04-K/277 the most robust & cost effective 4W AC/DC converter we’ve developed. We’re very excited to talk about this one.
Jeff: Let’s start with certifications. Peter, can you tell us what international safety standards come with the RAC04-K/277.
Peter: Like most of our AC/DC converters, the RAC04-K/277 comes with a wide variety of safety standards. This 4W converter is certified to 62368 for audio and video equipment, 60335 for household applications as well as 61558-2-16 for transformer safety.
Jeff: Hey Peter, are these UL standards?
Peter: yes they are
Jeff: What happened to UL60950?
Peter: Good point, Jeff. 62368 will replace the 60950 after December 2020. Keeping up to date with the latest and most relevant certifications is one of our main focuses as a company. This allows for a very simple integration of RECOM parts during the design phase and makes your selling easier. (throw something in about competition)
Jeff: Ok, time to go geek squad. Let’s talk about standby power on the RAC04-K
Peter: This part has a low standby power consumption of 100mW and boost power capability up to 6W, it is an ideal product for IoT and energy conscious applications. It also features an internal class B EMC filter and does not require any external components.
Jeff: So I hear 4k is the new 3k when it comes to isolation. How much isolation comes with the new RAC04-K?
Peter: it has reinforced isolation of 4kVac, this is becoming a standard feature for our AC/DCs. It also has short circuit protection, an extended input voltage range up to 277Vac, and a maximum operating temperature of 90°C making it suitable for harsher industrial settings.
Jeff: outstanding! Alright, enough of the tech stuff. Let’s talk about the footprint. How does the new RAC04-K make it easy for engineers?
Peter: The footprint and pin layout are designed to match older RECOM technologies such as the RAC04-C/230 and RAC04-C/277. This way customers can smoothly transition to the newer and better, lower cost solution.
Jeff: Well, that about wraps it up for this month’s Powerful Podcast. Be sure to listen next month, when we delve into the pros of another RECOM converter. As always please contact your regional sales manager for any samples or pricing information. Ahmed and Peter are always happy to assist you with any technical questions or requests. Until then, have a great month and remember
Peter: RECOM powers your products!
