Rooting for the planet: RECOM plants 700 trees to offset CO2 footprint

What a year! For every lead we received on our European trade show tour this year, we’re donating funds to offset the CO2 footprint cost of your attendance. We received a record number of business cards this year, allowing us to plant over 700 trees!
Our team at RECOM was thrilled to meet with our customers and new friends from around the globe. We exhibited at Embedded World (March), PCIM (May), LOGIMAT (June), Innotrans (September), and electronica (November). From Nuremberg to Berlin, Germany proved to be a thriving hub for electronics industry leaders in 2022.
We always appreciate the opportunity to meet face to face. Still, we understand the impact international and regional travel has on our environment. Some transportation experts say tourism accounts for 8% of the world’s carbon footprint. So, we wanted to find a way to give back—with a budding idea that would grow as strong as the connections we made with you this year!

How does planting 700 trees help the environment?
Trees remove carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases from the air. They also exhale more of the delicious stuff, oxygen, that we humans need. Trees are experts at fighting climate change—the more of them we have, the cleaner our air can be!
The RECOM-supported reforestation program plants trees around the world. These organizations make things more leafy, lush, and green in 28 countries, restoring barren land affected by human activity and natural disasters.
Looking towards a greener future
As a member of the electronics industry, we’re always looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint. In fact, this tree-planting initiative is just one of the ways we’re supporting our planet. We’ve branched out our portfolio to support regions investing in environmentally friendly rail projects, and deepened our roots in DC/DC converters for the solar energy sector.

How does planting 700 trees help the environment?

- Each tree absorbs 25 kg of CO2 per year, equivalent to the emissions caused by driving 70km!
- The trees planted will offset 70,000km of traveling (almost twice around the world!)
- electronica announced a total of 70,000 visitors attended this year’s event in Munich. That means these trees offset almost a kilometer of CO2 per visitor!
- With 30,000 power supplies in the RECOM product catalog, that’s over 2km for every product we sell!
- And this is every year for at least the next 60–100 years!
