RECOM and its subsidiary Power Control Systems as specialist for customised solutions, have a long history of designing products for special applications in the aerospace, medical, defense and ruggedized transport markets. Products include AC/DC, DC/DC and DC/AC converters up to 11kW, along with power factor correction ‘front ends’ up to 4kW. Proven platform designs are used which can be adapted to customer specifications for new custom designs. The following designs are intentionally developed as platform solutions, which enable RECOM to modify fast, easily and cost efficient these solutions to different customer needs.

An example of a part for a special application is the SD2800 series which operates at nominal 44V or 24V three-phase AC input and provides 28V or 14V respectively at 2.8kW and 1.4kW. Other examples are parts MA2000 and MA11000 which are battery chargers/conditioners specially designed for the E-mobility market, rated at 2kW and 1kW respectively, with very wide output operating voltage ranges for flexibility of application.
Special modular stand-alone power factor correction ‘front ends’ are also available rated at 800W, 1600W and 3200W (single phase AC input) and at 4kW (three-phase AC input). Products are available in 19“rack, open frame or chassis formats, or to customer specification.

DC/AC Converters for Special Applications
RECOM has particular experience in marine defense power converter design. An example of a product designed for this application is the IPS1200 series DC/AC inverter with 48V DC input and 110VAC output at 1.2kW. The product is rated for critical ambient conditions and complies with defense standards.
DC/DC Converters for Special Applications
The SD2800 series DC/DC converter available from Power Control Systems is 2.8kW-rated, with nominal 44V, 48V, 60V or 80VDC inputs and with a choice of DC output voltages. The product is typically used in mobile applications when a high-power non-isolated step-down converter is required.
Also designed for a special high-reliability application, the MD200 series is a ruggedized contact-cooled DC/DC converter rated at 220W with 28V input and multiple outputs.
