RECOM Ultra-wide input 5W/15W/25W PCB-mount AC/DC converters for global applications
The RACxx-K/480 series is earth-free, class II rated with Over Voltage Category III (OVC III) inputs. The parts are fully encapsulated, silicone-free, and are categorized for operation in Pollution Degree 3 (PD3) environments at 5000m altitude. All have global safety certifications to EN 61010-1, EN 62368-1, and UL 62368-1 - while the 15W and 25W parts additionally have EN 60335-1 certification. Isolation voltage is 3.6kVAC/1 min (RAC05/K480, 5.4kVAC/1 min), and all parts meet EN 55032 Class B EMC limits - with floating outputs and with no external components required. No load power consumption is very low to meet eco-design requirements, less than 0.3W for the 15W and 25W parts - and less than 0.5W for the 5W part. Full protection is included against output over-voltage, short circuits, and overcurrent. Applications for these cost-effective and rugged parts include a smart grid, smart metering, renewable energy, sensors/actuators, IIoT/Industry 4.0, and IoT.
The RECOM range of AC/DC PCB-mount modules in through-hole, encapsulated format has been expanded with the addition of ultra-wide input parts operating from 85-528VAC; to include global single-phase nominal, and three-phase line-to-line voltages - up to 480VAC plus tolerances. The 5W RAC05-K/480 series is available with outputs of 5V, 12V, or 15V in a nominal 2” x 1” case size (52.5 x 27.4 x 23mm) and operates from -40°C to 80°C. The 15W RAC15-K/480 features 5V, 12V, 15V, or 24V outputs in a nominal 2” x 1.6” case size (52.5 x 40 x 25.5mm) and operates from -40°C to +90°C with outputs classed as Limited Power Source (LPS). The highest power module is the 25W RAC25-K/480. This part also offers 5V, 12V, 15V, or 24V outputs in a compact nominal 3.2” x 1.8” case (83.23 x 46.43 x 30.4mm), with LPS-rated outputs. The operating temperature is -40°C to +90°C.
